Maya planned a surprise party for her best friend Sarah. Sarah was going to get engaged. Maya worked on the party for many weeks. Everything was good until her little brother made a mistake. He talked about the secret at dinner with the family. "I can't believe you decided to spill the beans!" Maya said. She was angry because Sarah's boyfriend would find out. Now Maya was in hot water with Sarah. Sarah told Maya to keep the party secret. But the party happened anyway. When Sarah saw all her friends there, she was on cloud nine. She felt so happy! Her boyfriend already knew about the surprise party. He was acting like he didn't know. "You need to take it easy and stop worrying so much," Sarah said to Maya. She gave Maya a big hug. Maya learned she worried for no reason. The party place looked very nice. But the flowers and food cost an arm and a leg. They were very expensive. Sarah's parents paid for everything. Maya watched Sarah talk with her boyfriend's mother. Sarah seemed to get along with her very well. They talked and laughed like old friends. They both loved gardening. When the party ended, Maya felt happy. Everything worked out fine even after her brother's mistake. Sometimes good parties happen when plans change.
