Maria had been feeling under the weather for days, so her best friend Lena decided to cheer her up. "You need to keep your chin up," Lena said, though Maria wanted nothing more than to give up and stay in bed. Lena was organizing a surprise birthday party, but she accidentally let the cat out of the bag when she texted Maria about the decorations.

Maria received the message and immediately understood what was happening. "I get the picture now," she texted back, pretending to be upset but actually excited. Lena had to think fast. She told Maria that the party was just a small dinner, nothing special. Maria played along, deciding to be on the lookout for any other hints about what Lena was really planning.

When Maria arrived at the restaurant that evening, she walked through the door and froze. The entire room was filled with her friends and family. Colorful balloons hung from the ceiling, and a long table displayed all her favorite foods. Everyone shouted "Surprise!" as she entered, and her face lit up with genuine joy.

Maria hugged Lena tightly. "I knew something was happening, but this is amazing," she whispered. "Thank you for not letting me give up on today." Lena smiled, relieved that despite letting the secret slip earlier, the party was still a wonderful success. Maria's sadness disappeared completely, replaced by happiness and gratitude for having such a thoughtful friend.
